Nanomaterial research has allowed for clothing manufacturers to combine natural and synthetic fibres to achieve unique decorative effects, these effects most commonly include metallic sheen or shape and body. These effects are often not visible to the naked eye until the materials have been exposed to heat.

Synthetic fibres are able to be dry cleaned and are often washable, see individual care labels for details.

Synthetic fibres used to give clothing body, most commonly seen in a worn or bubble look, are often difficult to spot with the naked eye and once they have been exposed to heat  there is no way to restore them to their original look as the metal is set in its final state.

Unfortunately there are currently no standards requiring clothing manufacturers or retailers to display their merchandise with the finished look, however due to mounting complaints on the subject many retailers are now displaying the finished product.
